Description
Radio Kyela FM, in Tanzania, part of UNESCO’s project “Empowering Local Radios with ICTs”*, is preparing a special programming made for and by young people during World Radio Day 2015. Radio stations participating in the project have demonstrated their commitment in including more young voices in their programming. By implementing the youth radio toolkit “Linking Generations through Radio”, produced by UNESCO, the local radios are producing youth-targeted programming in three levels: radio for youth, radio with youth, and radio by youth.

*UNESCO's project "Empowering Local Radios with ICTs" aims to bridge the gap between poor people - especially women and girls - and the public debate on issues of local public concern. This is achieved through a series of capacity-building activities in local radio stations, improving the programming quality, providing training on the use of ICTs and helping them to increase their geographical range of news coverage with a network of correspondents. The project, furthermore, focus on gender equality actions and financial sustainability of the radio stations.
