Description
Join 13 new Puget Sound low-power FM neighborhood radio stations for a public celebration on UNESCO's World Radio Day produced by the Brown Paper Tickets Doer Program. All 13 stations have recently received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval to build everything they need to start broadcasting. Two additional Seattle stations that have applied for FCC licenses and are awaiting approval will also join us.
Enjoy a slice of "radio tower" cake, hear "lightning talks" from the new stations, get broadcast coverage maps and information on how people of all ages can be involved. Learn what radio can do for your neighborhood, and how you can be a part of it!
The lightning talks will be streamed live online between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. by three of the recipients of the FCC construction permits: Hollow Earth Radio, Seattle University Radio, and University of Washington Bothell's UWave.
This event is produced by the Brown Paper Tickets Doer Program as a Not-Just-For-Profit social corporation advocacy initiative to build communications infrastructure for stronger communities.
Thanks to The Seattle Public Library for their generous support.
